Florida woman, 32, is hospitalized with collapsed lungs after
catching deadly infection from a venison BURGER

A woman developed pneumonia from the parasitic infection
    toxoplasmosis

It's believed that she got the infection from eating contaminated
    deer meat

    . . .

I *think* you can catch it from cats and rats too,
    just to be fair.

However there were two deaths reported just a week
or two ago from eating venison - in this case rife
with the "Chronic Wasting Disease" prion which has
become rather widespread. The victims rotted away
horribly and there IS NO cure.

A CWD variant started doing severe damage to moose
populations in the US northeast about 10 years ago.

In any case, it CAN be passed on in meat - unless
you maybe go super-crispy well-done. Of course you
may have to TOUCH the raw meat first, so ....

Prions are oddly-folded proteins that, when they
touch the correctly-folded ones, transform them
to the evil variety. The garbage then builds up
in the brain, doing fatal damage. Alas, being
proteins rather than an "organism", normal
sanitary measures WON'T HELP YOU. No "germs"
or viruses to kill - it's all chemical.

Now I've nothing "political" about eating Bambi's
mother ... but there IS some REALLY BAD SHIT now
circulating in wild game populations. Not sure
    why NOW.
