As more Floridians turn to solar panels to try and save money
on energy costs, some homeowners are finding it hard to find
    homeowners insurance.

"Go green and now we don't have options," homeowner Cara
    Clark said.

She said her Tesla solar system has left her scrambling for
a policy in Palm Beach County.

"It put a lot of panic," she said. "We started calling
anyone we could. We reached out to many agents and the
    no's started coming back."

    . . .

Nobody wants to insure houses along the whole
Hurricane Coast. They will find ANY excuse to
drop those already insured - and SCREW those
they will keep. It's becoming impossible. A few
months back I heard that the mayor of West
Palm Beach - betcha high-salary - had to drop
the "wind-storm" part of his policy. If Trump
has solar install in Mar-a-Lago, he probably
    can't insure.

Roof-top solar installations MAY be problematical.
First they have to drill holes in yer perfectly
good roof and then the panels are typically put
in with an inch or two of air space under them.
This will let storm winds get in and under and
rip the panels away - likely taking part of
    yer roof with them.

There are, or were, people making "solar shingles".
These kind of ARE the roof - they lie flat - kinda
like ceramic tile roofing. Much harder for wind
    to get under them.

Of course the now-ubiquitous solar install companies
don't MENTION possible issues - including insurance ...
