This IR animation reveals that the storm has now
developed a very large and symmetrical body of heavy
weather all around the eye.
The NWS still suggests a Cat-1 at landfall tomorrow,
but, really, as well as this thing has formed it might
make Cat-2. The area of Florida at expected landfall
is quite low-lying, very prone to storm surge and the
ground has already been saturated from ordinary rain.
The AFTER bit is also very problematical ... it is
expected to kind of STALL just after pushing across
into the Atlantic off Georgia/SC. As such it will
likely maintain TS status and pump HUGE amounts of
rain into the area for DAYS.
There is also a new tropical wave ... but this one
is expected to track much further south, into Mexico.
The TREND in seed systems off Africa has been trending
a bit more south-ish the past few years. La-Nina, or
something new over Africa, perhaps linked to the
vast heat-waves pushing into southern Europe ?
