The GOOD news is that they now don't THINK it is
going to be a cat-4 ... but BEWARE intensity models,
they're not nearly as good as track models. It is
NOT unusual these days to see hurricane jump up a
category shortly before landfall. Dunno why, but
they really seem to do this kinda often. Worst
case was in Mexico a year ago - cat-1 to cat-5
    within 12 hours. Squished Acapulco.

Cat-3 means "only" 15-foot storm surge along
the coast ... STILL enough to completely cover
most houses. Still better than 20-foot surge
    I suppose.

The bad news is the thing is STILL very strong
and very WIDE. It WILL maintain strength even
a fair way inland - all the way into Georgia.

The Florida state capitol is STILL in the
center of the presumed track. Tallahassee is
a beautiful town, trees trees trees everywhere.
They're gonna all fall down onto buildings and
power lines - it'll be a HUGE mess.

Fear not, DeSantis and ultra-MAGA mean Florida
has LOTS of spare money. Still, a real pain in
the ass for the local pop. I was in Fla for
the "double hurricanes" - hit within a mile
of each other, within like three weeks, cat-2
and cat-3. What a fuckin' MESS ! The water
lines were pulled up and all the power lines
were giant tangles around crashed poles and
trees and 90% of the roads were unusable.
WEEKS before the lights came back on.

Note NO mob/looter events ... Fla SUPPORTS
shooting the fuckin' shit out of looters and
they all KNOW it. Thus NO problems. Last big
storm a sheriff said to shoot them a LOT,
    just to be sure :-)

The maybe even WORSE news is the amount of RAIN
it's gonna send into Georgia - maybe another
12-15 inches on TOP of the floods they had just
the past couple of days from a weather front.
Atlanta is shutting down its huge airport and
it's perhaps THE busiest air hub in the world.
    A total systemic mess.

    The Georgia/Tennessee/Carolina area is gonna
    get DROWNED.

Anyone wonder why insurance companies won't
insure much these days ? THIS sort of thing is
why. NO private corp can martial the cash to
DEAL with disasters on this scale anymore.
Ain't the wealthy 60s anymore. Some new plan,
FEMA-Plus, is gonna be NECESSARY. Sorry but
that's Real Life. Deal. No pure capitalist
solutions anymore - China/lefties stole THAT.

The storm STILL might make cat-4. That's total
DEATH to anybody who's within about 10 miles of
the very shallow coast in that part of the world.
The GOOD bit is that the actual coast around
there doesn't have THAT many people. The BAD bit
is that many just WON'T evac plus we're talking
    some really high-$$$ real-estate.

Looks like THIS year the Florida panhandle is
getting what Texas got the past few years.
This is the second strong storm for them now,
almost hitting the same place, but stronger.

ANYhow ... we'll know by Friday AM. Won't
    be good ......
