Christopher Columbus was Jewish and from Western Europe, a
study has found following the discovery of his remains 500
years after his death.
'We have DNA from Christopher Columbus, very partial, but
sufficient. We have DNA from Hernando Colón, his son,'
Lorente said in the programme.
'And both in the Y chromosome (male) and in the mitochondrial
DNA (transmitted by the mother) of Hernando there are traits
compatible with Jewish origin.'

confirmed that his remains wound up in Seville.
This further DNA analysis is kinda interesting.
Does it mean the Americas really belong to
Israel ??? :-)
In the late 1400s it would have been very wise to
hide a Jewish background - the Inquisition was still
new and very active. Jews were often forced to
'convert' under threat of extremely dire torture.
The HRCC became as fanatical about heretics/infidels
as groups like ISIS today over non-Islamics. This was
mostly a panic counter-response to the rise of Protestant
sentiments, which were taking shape even before Martin
Luther got into the mix. Islamic empires were also a
continuing threat to the HRCC, albeit more in eastern
Europe (search on Vlad Dracula about those wars).
