Ya know all the big text at the beginning of yer policy ?

What about all the SMALL ultra-legalese crap at the
    bottom of yer policy ?

Vast numbers of people are discovering that small print
is nothing but endless excuses to NOT pay out. Windowsills
the wrong color or something - NO PAY. Dog has the wrong
name - NO PAY. House had a roof - NO PAY.

In short they TAKE yer vast quantities of money but,
when the time comes, NO PAY.

Only so many lawyers expert in dealing with this
    bullshit too.

NOW we're talking VAST VAST numbers of people in
    the shit.

    . . .

NewsNation had some poor bastard on - finally
connected him direct to Sen (former Fla gov)
    Rick Scott.

This crap CANNOT STAND. It's outright THEFT.

Ok ... the feeble flip side ... the economic
model for 'insurance' took full shape during
the relatively wealthy 50s/60s. The USA and
economy were strong and expanding. New/more
    customers cushioned insurance pay-outs. This
isn't really so much the case anymore - and
the sheer SIZE of areas affected by disasters
means NO corp can pay out quickly AND stay
    in business.

The upshot is that you may PAY - but that's
just an on-paper thing. Pretty fair chance
you will NOT get a pay-OUT when the roof
caves in. It's all a lie.

Clearly something HAS to be done - and in the
current economy private insurers cannot really
be of much use for natural disasters.

SO ... hate to say it ... but we need something
like "FEMA+" ... the govt has to be the primary
disaster insurer and you use private insurers
for the little stuff. No exceptions, no BS.
House blows over flat - they pay for a new one.
Yes, govt kinda sucks at the details, but it's the
only entity with enough cash to cope these days.

What happens when even the govt can't come up
with the cash ... well ... that's not gonna
be a very attractive time for anyone.

There's yet another storm now headed west.
Might go straight into Florida or hit the
Keys and then into the Gulf - destination
as yet unknown. The intensity projections
(always iffy) are trending upwards. So, we
may have still another cat2+ hit this year.

ONE possible FEMA+ reg ... to NOT insure
structures x-feet from the OCEAN. This is
of especial interest on the Gulf coast
    where storm-surge is a super-big thing.
Build near the beach and you're on your own.
MAYBE they'll buy you a new house - much
FURTHER from the beach. A nice gap full
of all-nature beach might be a good thing.

I think a lot of these changes make good sense. What I don't agree with
is Trump's Project 2025 plan to gut FEMA.
