Acts 7:43 is the famous witnessing of Stephen the first martyr to the Jews, and he was so direct and uncompromising that they immediately stoned him, with Saul who guarded their clothes as a witness.
Please note that they took Saul (who later became known as the apostle Paul) as a witness - which means they considered stoning the convert to Christ Jesus
a deed of the Law and justice. (They did not do it in hiding or covertly.)

In previous meditations, there was a reference to Alan Ginsberg's poem "Howl", which described a number of ways the nature, life force and
sexuality were destroyed at the altar of profits for the demon Alan
calls Moloch.
There is a more recent direct reference to improving the science and technology in the way of Moloch (sacrifice of life force for the material gains or purposes).
In the Star Trek, on the other hand, there was a rogue Federation Starfleet captain who had discovered that his WARP drive worked more efficiently if he made the certain alien spirit race captive in the WARP drive reactor.
While the first event of sacrificing the alien was in ship distress, eventually the captain was persuaded to do it more often and on regular basis, as the starship's requirement for normal operation.
However, when the Starfleet learnet about this, they exerted measures to frustrate and stop such improvement of science and technology at the expense of life, soul or spirit forces of the alien creatures.
As a consequence, the aliens eventually stopped attacking the Starfleet.
