No one knows for sure. But they did use God's full name in the first >century. As Jesus put it:

    -- King James
John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest
me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and
    they have kept thy word.

    Also,

(Acts 15:14) Sym´e·on has related thoroughly how God for the first
time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people
    for his name.

    (Hebrews 2:12) as he says: “I will declare your name to my brothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will praise you with song.”

God's name is found in the Bible (OT) around 7000 times in the form of
the Hebrew Tetragrammaton. (YHWH) Those are all the consonants in His
name. The problem stems from the superstition of the Jews, in that
they believed God's name is too sacred to pronounce.

So instead, they inserted "Lord" or "God" in the Bible passage. Some >translations follow the superstition of those Jews like the Catholic
NAB and RSV. Others make an attempt to translate a name, like NKJB:

    -- New King James
Psalms 83:18 That men may know that You, whose name alone is the
Lord, Are the Most High over all the earth.

The word "Lord" is a title, NOT a name.
A more accurate translation would be:

    -- American Standard
Psalms 83:18 That they may know that thou alone, whose name is
Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth.

Then is "Jehovah" God's name? The KJV thinks so:

    - King James
Psalms 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is
Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.

Some think that Yahweh is closer to the Tetragrammaton. That is true.
That is why some Bibles use that word:

    - New Jerusalem with Apocrypha
Psalms 83:18 Let them know that you alone bear the name of Yahweh,
Most High over all the earth.

But as brought out in the beginning, no one knows for sure what God's
name really is. The name "Jehovah" is the best known name in the
English language for God. It has been around long before the
corporation of Jehovah's Witnesses was formed.

Also, God's name in other languages reflects their language. For
    example:

    In Danish "Jehova"
    In Fijan "Jiova"
    In Italian "Geova"
    In Japanese "Ehoba"
    In Spanish "Jehová"
In French "Je'hovah (conventional literary form)
In German "Jehovah" (German Elberfelder version)
    (See Deut 4:2)

Since God hasn't seemed fit to keep His actual name down to this day,
we should use the best name we can. As the common prayer "The Lord's
    Prayer" states at its beginning:

    -- King James
Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art
in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

One can't make God's name hallowed if one doesn't use it.

    Sincerely James
