why does it have to be indoctrinated
into people?

Because indoctrination is the essential part of modern scientific
education. If you don't want to oppose the indoctrination of science in
school and university, you have no ground to oppose the indoctrination
of philosophy in church and religion either. Memorizing a formula is not
very different from memorizing the golden rule. One may give you a
better career, the other will make you a better person.
