his ethno-religious group.
It's particularly insulting to be told that they came here to "rebuild Britain".

They were economic migrants who were not wanted nor needed. The 'Monte
Rosa' - the name given to it when it was built by the Germans in 1930 -
was taken from the Germans after the war and very generously handed to
the Jewish-owned New Zealand Shipping Company by the UK's Secretary of
State for War, one Manny Shinwell - other ships were similarly donated.
As the 'Empire Windrush' the ship was used initially on behalf of the
British Government for transporting British troops. Permission was then sought to take on paying passengers, and this was granted by the British Minister for Transport Harry Louis Nathan - a distant relative of the
ship's NZ owners. Adverts were then placed in Jamaican newspapers
offering one-way berths to Britain at a cost of £28 10s each. Many of
the ads were propaganda pieces that presented an idealized picture of
life and job opportunities in Britain — in stark contrast to the bleak reality.
The rest, as they say, is history - but, in this case, a very distorted history!
