    The Israeli army has raided Al Jazeera’s office in Ramallah and forced it
    to shut down for 45 days (which will no doubt be extended before it runs
    out). Staff were give only 10 minutes’ notice to pick up their personal belongings and get out. And then the doors were welded shut.

    The interesting thing is, Ramallah is in “Area A” under the Oslo peace accords. That means it is supposed to be under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority (who have AlJ the licence to operate in the first
    place), not the Israeli Government.

    But as you know, the PA has been rendered essentially impotent and
    toothless after decades of abuse and neglect from Israel. So when troops
    show up brandishing big guns and demanding everybody get out, who is going
    to argue that what they are doing is against the law, violating the
    agreements that their own Government made?

    Israel is fond of using any action on the part of their opponents as
    somehow “threatening the prospects for peace”. Yet when they so cheerfully disregard peace agreements that they have made in the past, why should
    anybody continue to trust them?

    How you can live with yourself is a mystery to me. Your views on this awful two-sided conflict are laughably one sided and politically motivated. I believe you are proving yourself to be racist.

    Is that Israel’s new excuse for repudiating peace agreements with them?

    How unoriginal ... particularly when you consider which side has had the genocide charges against them deemed credible by an independent court.

    Is that Israel's new excuse for repudiating peace agreements with them?

    What peace agreements?

    How unoriginal

    How inconvenient for "liberals" who find themselves supporting
    fanatical, barbaric zealots and neo-Nazis.

    Don’t take my word for it, go look at the verdicts passed down by the International Court of Justice.

    You know that court is part of the UN legal system, that Israel as a
    signatory to the UN Charter has agreed to abide by?

    If Israel hates the UN so much, why doesn’t it just leave?

    What "peace agreements"?

    You didn’t go look at those verdicts? Afraid of what you might find?

    The ones signed between Israel and the Palestinians in the past. Also
    between Israel and Egypt, Israel and Jordan etc. The ones that Israel--and you--seem to be conveniently forgetting nowadays.

    Reporters Sans Frontières estimates that 130 journalists have been
    killed in Gaza since October 7, while other groups put the figure
    higher: the International Federation of Journalists says that
    reporters working in Gaza have a 1 in 10 chance of being killed.

    Israel deliberately blocks independent journalists from entering Gaza;
    the ones it allows in it keeps under tight control.

    <https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/23/israel-is-deliberately-targeting-journalists-in-gaza-experts>

    This on top of the ongoing and systematic destruction of aid
    facilities run by the UN and other independent agencies, hospitals, universities, schools, power and water infrastructure,
    telecommunications ... anything that might make the lives of
    Palestinians bearable.
