• IDF Claims Attack Was A Precision Strike To Take Out Hamas Leader

This report from one of those rare times independent journalists were
allowed by Israel into Gaza to witness the aftermath of one of their
    attacks <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/idf-claims-attack-was-a-precision-strike-to-take-out-hamas-leader/O4WKT54RJJA27EYLIYBIKU6O2Y/>
attempts to justify the bombardment of the European Hospital, on the
grounds that there is, or was, this Hamas-run tunnel network
    underneath.

    I find this quote telling:

The military said it dropped specialist munitions on either side
of the hospital, cutting off a roughly 20m section of the tunnel.

The only reason it could have been “cut off” was because there was no actual connection between the tunnel and the hospital. This is
entirely consistent with reports from independent medical workers that
they never see Hamas combatants operating inside hospitals, contrary
to Israel’s claims. Both medical workers and patients within the
hospital are entirely ignorant of any knowledge of a tunnel network
beneath, and cannot be blamed for it.

So demanding that a civilian facility such as that hospital be
evacuated before Israel kills civilians in that area anyway, is still
in no way justified by the evidence presented in this case.

Israel will need to come up with better excuses for murdering
    civilians.

Report on Hamas' use of human shields in Gaza --------------------------------------------- https://stratcomcoe.org/cuploads/pfiles/hamas_human_shields.pdf

Hamas' most common uses of human shields include:

    * Firing rockets, artillery, and mortars from or in proximity to heavily populated civilian areas, often from or near facilities which should be protected according to the Geneva Convention (e.g. schools, hospitals,
    or mosques).

    * Locating military or security-related infrastructures such as HQs, bases, armouries, access routes, lathes or defensive positions within or in proximity to civilian areas.

    * Protecting terrorists' houses and military facilities, or rescuing terrorists who were besieged or warned by the IDF.

    * Combating the IDF from or in proximity to residential and commercial areas, including using civilians for intelligence gathering missions.

By engaging in these acts, Hamas employs a win-win scenario: if indeed the IDF uses kinetic power, and the number of civilian causalities surges, Hamas can use that as a weapon in the lawfare it conducts. It would be able to accuse
the IDF (and Israel) of committing war crimes, which in turn could result in the imposition of a wide array of sanctions. On the other hand, if the IDF limits
its use of military power in Gaza to avoid collateral damage, Hamas will be less
vulnerable to Israeli attacks, and thereby able to protect its assets while continuing to fight.

Even the UN admitted that the numbers coming out of Gaza don't mean jack shit ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.cfr.org/blog/un-halves-its-estimate-women-and-children-killed-gaza#:~:text=Between%20May%206%20and%20May,from%20that%20source%20are%20unreliable.
UN Halves Its Estimate of Women and Children Killed in Gaza
Between May 6 and May 8, the UN cut in half its estimates of the number of women and
children killed in Gaza. The estimates were based on Hamas numbers and are a reminder that
all fatality estimates coming from that source are unreliable.

    Yes.

Well, that’s one way of being neutral.
