As I have commented before years ago on some of these groups,
I believe that Odin’s missing or closed eye is new/dark moon,
whereas the open eye is the sun.
Odin is also raven-associated, and I also associate raven with
the new/dark moon, coming up in a little more than 13 hours.
Some may be interested in my thread“Raven’s Blessings”
on alt.native , where I draw a parallel between Haida and
Beothuk mythology.
Other figures that I think are raven-associated are
the Morrigan, maybe Lugh, and maybe Jacob.
Do you know of any others?
I have also previously commented on
“The landlady’s eyes opened wide with delight”
from the song Wild Rover, and speculated that
it refers to the waxing of the moon from new/dark
moon to full moon. Are there any stories of
Odin’s closed eye opening up?
