Why does it take so long? This boar, and several others, have been around
the neighborhood for a while now. It was an accident waiting to happen. When
it did, it was handled so inefficiently. The animal was first tasered. When
this did not stop it from behaving aggressively, a shot was fired, but only
to injure and immobilise it. The animal was then passed to ACRES to be
euthanised. Seems like it was all done under the direction of ACRES, according to its standard operating procedure. Why can’t the police just
shoot to kill, there and then? Because ACRES would have disapproved of it?
What happened with the carcass? Did it become meals for those stray dogs
caught and kept by ACRES?

ACRES statements on the incident were most stupid.

Just having a heart to express sympathy and empathy for the animals will
not solve the problem. It requires the head to reason out how to prevent

The follow-up actions by AVA are equally dumb. Putting up barriers. Putting
up signages warning humans. Pls lah, there are already so many signages of
all sorts, they make us feel like we are living in a jungle of metal props
and boards.

The root of the problem is over-breeding of the animals in their natural
habitat. They are running out of space and food there. That is why they are
encroaching on human space. The right thing to do is to go into their natural habitat in the forested area nearby to control their population.

A dog died after eating a piece of bread it found along a road. Owner cried foul and animal-lovers went berserk.

Let's put it in proper perspective. Was the dog killed by eating the bread?
The owner is displaying the arrogance of a Westerner in this part of the world, taking the authority to task without first determining the truth. How can a substance which is intended to only tranquilize a pigeon be strong enough to kill a dog?

The owner of the dog will have to prove that its the bread that killed her dog. This is to be done at her own expense, not taxpayers’.

The owner of the dog has some explanations to give too. What had she fed her dog with before taking it out for that walk? Had she taken proper care of her dog during the walk? Was the dog on leash when it found the bread? Why did she not stop

the dog from eating the bread? Had she allowed her dog to pee and poo in public during the walk?

The pigeon culling exercise should not stop, whether or not the dog was poison from the bread. Those animal-loving fools are showing sympathies and empathies for those pigeons and the dog while questioning and criticizing the authority harshly on

social media.

The Town Council, together with the pest control company it employed, deserve our praise. They are carrying out their duty in pest control. There are too many pests around us. They are creating public nuisances and endangering public safety and

health. Pigeons form one of the more serious type because they breed fast. Their population must be reduced, by any means.

The job of pest control is made unnecessarily difficult by those animal lovers. They freely feed pests and thwart the authority's plan to cull pests. If the authority has alerted the public to the presence of the food used to attract and

tranquilize the pigeons, those animal lovers would have removed them.

It would be a great disservice to the public if the authority reduces or stops the culling because of this incident. Do not flinch, keep going, because the problem is growing.
