Can anyone help on this one. I am researching my family, the Clachars from Portland Jamaica. Clachar is scottish in origin and so far I have been able to find a "Alexander Clachar" on the 1810 Jamaican Almanac, and "John Shea" (may be Alexander'sson) on the 1838 almanac. They owned property called "Newport" and were slaveowners. Hence, this is how the black Clachar family members got the "Clachar" name. Does anyone have any information on the Scottish migration to Jamaica?
