I have an ancestor, John Prince Porte, who lived in Barbados around the 1860s.
He was Black and had 5 children: Ellen Ann Porte, John Edward Porte, Joseph Porte, Samuel Thomas Porte,
and Nathaniel Porte. He and his children may have left for Liberia, West Africa in 1865.
Nothing is said about his wife or any parents before him. John Prince Porte may have travelled from
    other French West Indies islands.
PLEASE let me know the names and locations of those PORTE families in
    the French West Indies.
    Merci beaucoup.

Hello. I know this is many years later, and I'm not sure if you ever got any answers, but John Prince Porte and Ellen Ann traveled to Liberia and established a home and family, of which I am a part. They contributed immensely to the building of the
country and became very prominent. I personally know a lot of your relatives, and there is now a documentary of descendants of not only John Prince Porte, but many others who traveled on the Brig Cora to Liberia.
