    The association Centre Culturel “Gilbert de Venables” (aka CCGV) in Venables, France, is seeking individuals interested in or connected to
    the name Venables. Venables is a charming village located in the
    Normandy region, west of Paris.

    In 1066, a young man named Gilbert from Venables joined William the Conqueror’s troops at the Battle of Hastings. Following their victory, Gilbert and his descendants established themselves in England, with his
    lineage becoming the Barons of Kinderton, near what is now the village
    of Middlewich.

    Venables (pronounced in an English sort of way, whereas I assume your
    village is pronounced as French) is surname in England. I wouldn't call
    it common, but it not very uncommon either. Some people with the name
    are listed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venables, most of them
    still alive. I expect that with a bit of searching you can find one
    with an email address.
