    I think when Google Groups shut down it killed off a lot of people who
    wouldn't know how to connect to usenet.

    Probably Discord also, and I'm sure there's still some web based boards
    around.

    It's a shame because there's been a lot of advances in spam killing on
    usenet which has helped a great deal.

    If you have a specific question, the British Genealogy group is full of
    helpful and knowledgeable people. Some of the enquiries can be a bit
    Newby, but I have also seen them dig out some quite obscure answers for
    people.

    here.

    But I've also cut my genealogy down to pre-internet levels since
    FamilySearch became more difficult to access and use (as in: Your
    browser is no longer supported).

    I'm guessing that you use Internet Explorer, I don't have a problem
    with Firefox

    I'm using Firefox, and when that stopped working used Maxthon. but
    FamilySearch stopped supporting that and Rootsmagic 7 about 6 months
    ago. More recent versions of either don't work on my rather old
    computer. Planned obsolescence rules.
