Born in Germany in 1879, Albert Einstein was educated in Italy and Switzerland. In 1932 shortly before Hitler took power in Germany Einstein decided to move to the United States, where he would later become a citizen and spend the rest of his life.
Though he remained best known for his work in science, he also used his platform to speak out against the Nazi regime as well as racism in America.
