    TOPICS:

MEDFORD, Ore.-- More complaints filed against a Medford attorney with
the Oregon State Bar. John Eckrem has 15 complaints against him, and his license is suspended indefinitely.

Eckrem had nine complaints against him with the Oregon State Bar last
week, but since our story on News10 last week, the number of complaints
has grown to 15. Eckrem has had his license suspended multiple times
over the years. He said he should have retired years ago.

"I'm actually currently in the process of closing my practice because of
all of this--regardless of how things turn out with the bar because it's
become apparent that I'm not able to do things as satisfactorily as some
of the people would prefer," Eckrem said.

He said during his years as an attorney, despite multiple suspensions,
he did try to work to the best of his abilities.

The Oregon State Bar wants to remind everyone--John Eckrem does not have
a license to practice law. If there are current clients with concerns,
please call the Client Assistance Office with the State Bar at (503)
    620-0222.

Anyone with complaints, can file with the Oregon State Bar. Complaint
forms and background information can be found here.

Lastly, the Oregon State Bar says it "maintains a fund to reimburse
clients who lose money or property as a result of dishonest conduct by
their lawyer. The fund is supported by the lawyers of Oregon. The claims
must meet some specific requirements, and are discretionary based on
careful review of each matter." Clients who feel they may have a claim
    can find more information here.
