BROCKTON, Mass. —
A New Hampshire couple will face charges in connection with the death of a woman whose burned body was found along the railroad tracks in Bridgewater
last year.
Julian and Shannon Squires are being held without bail in Ashley Bortner's death. They are facing murder and kidnapping charges.
Prosecutors said the couple helped another man beat Bortner, then drove
her body to Bridgewater. Prosecutors said Bortner was bound and gagged and
more than 70 percent of her body was burned.
The New Jersey woman's body was found last November along MBTA train
tracks.
The other person charged, Fernando Owens, is also behind bars on murder charges.
Prosecutors said he believed that Bortner was responsible for the shooting death of his son. No one has ever been charged with that crime.
