does this advance the interests of American citizens?" Mace asked the
panel during a hearing on Rightsizing government. "Paying for t****** in Guatemala to the tune of $2 million."
During the hearing, Rep. Gerry Connolly made a parliamentary inquiry with

"The gentlelady has used a phrase that is considered a slur in the LGBTQ community and the trans community," Connolly stated.
As Connolly was trying to speak, Mace interrupted, repeating the
transgender slur.
"I don’t really care. You want penises in women’s bathrooms, and I’m not
gonna have it," she continued. "No, thank you. It’s disgusting."
In November, Mace introduced a resolution to ban transgender women from
using the women's restrooms at the U.S. Capitol.
The announcement happened just two weeks after the first openly
transgender woman, Sarah McBride, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mace stated in a press release the resolution reflects her "ongoing
commitment to protecting women's rights."
"We are standing up for women, protecting their spaces, and restoring a
bit of sanity to Capitol Hill," Mace said.
