Thanks for the ref; I didn't even know the SPT existed. I
read the readable version and downloaded the real one; I'll
tackle it when I have the time, and the ambition to get rid
of the almost-sure-to-result headache... :-)

About the South Pole, I'd love to get the SP here in the thread, as Usenet can be
