ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KOSA) - The Federal prosecutors found an illegal
immigrant in Ector County jail who was held for multiple federal
charges.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, acting United States Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas said,
federal prosecutors in the district filed 316 new immigration and immigration-related criminal cases from May 2 through May 8.
Among the new cases a Salvadoran national Edenilzon Hernandez was
encountered at the Ector County Detention Center.
He was being held for indecency with child sexual contact.
Hernandez is now facing a federal illegal re-entry charge and has three
prior removals and a criminal history that includes convictions for
burglary of a habitation, assault on a public servant and an additional
assault charge.
These cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide
initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice
to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total
elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs),
and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
