EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton confirmed that
two adults died in the multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in East Ridge on
Sunday.
Three others, Uselton said, are in the Intensive Care Unit.
Uselton said two of those critically injured were juveniles.
“There were two cars that were engulfed in flames. They immediately began trying rescue efforts. To speak well of humanity, several people on the interstate had actually gotten out, and they were trying to rescue the
people that were trapped inside the vehicles," Uselton says.
Two other victims were taken to the hospital but have since been released.
Uselton also confirmed the truck driver lives in Florida.
We learned the company’s legal name associated with the truck driver is Valparaiso trucking corporation.
When we called, we did not get a response.
We did, however, get a statement from Amazon...
"This is a horrible tragedy, and our thoughts are with all those involved. We’re cooperating with all investigations.”
Chief Uselton says they’re focused on getting justice for the families involved.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for one of the affected families.
