FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — An Alexandria man has been arrested for
the attempted rape and abduction of a woman near a Fairfax County bus
    stop, according to police.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the 7900 block
of Audubon Avenue for a sexual assault. A man reportedly assaulted a
woman and attempted to rape her near a bus stop near Richmond Highway
    and Ladson Lane.

The woman was able to fight the suspect off and run away, police said.
The man then ran toward Richmond Highway and was not initially found.

Detectives said the man walked in the street past a pole-mounted Fairfax
County Police Department license plate reader, and his close proximity
to the camera caused the device to take a picture.

Officers immediately recognized the man as 36-year-old Okezie Boniface
Erondu. Around 8:30 p.m., officers arrested Erondu. He was charged with attempted rape and abduction and is being held with no bond.
