CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who was arrested in connection with a sexual assault on a popular Charlotte greenway will spend at least three years in prison, court documents show.

Khalil Boler pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree forcible rape related to an attack at the McAlpine Park Greenway in September 2022. Boler entered the guilty plea on July 22, court documents show.

Records show that Boler accepted a deal to plead guilty to second-degree rape in exchange for several other charges being dropped. Those charges included second-degree kidnapping, attempted robbery, interfering with emergency communication, assault on a
    female and sexual battery.

Boler was arrested approximately one year after the assault happened. As part of the conviction, he will be offered sex offender evaluation and treatment and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

He was charged with sexual battery and indecent exposure related to incidents that happened at a University City target in July and August of 2023. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said those incidents helped detectives identify Boler as a person of interest
    in the greenway assault.
