(The Center Square) – Another major company is expanding its corporate headquarters from California to Texas, worldwide hair styling brand leader
John Paul Mitchell Systems. The company is building a new global product distribution center in Wilmer, in Dallas County.

JPMS is the largest family-owned professional hair care brand that
distributes hair care products in more than 30 countries. Its brands
include Paul Mitchell, Clean Beauty, Tea Tree, Neuro, Awapuhi Wild Ginger, among others. It has more than 100 professional schools nationwide,
    including six in Texas.

JPMS is expected to make a capital investment in its expansion project of
more than $12 million. It also received a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $654,000 and was offered an $8,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. The project
is expected to create 80 new jobs.

“Texas is the headquarters of headquarters,” Gov. Greg Abbott said. “This
$12 million investment by John Paul Mitchell Systems to expand their
corporate headquarters to Texas and establish a new global product
distribution center in Wilmer will create 80 new good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans. With our skilled and growing workforce, leading
position in U.S. and global markets, and the strongest pro-growth economic policies in America, we will continue to attract more headquarters and
create more jobs across our great state.”

The Texas Enterprise Fund enabled the company “to establish a major
facility in Texas to serve U.S. and global markets,” JPMS co-founder John
Paul DeJoria said. “I’ve resided in Austin for 25 years and have the
privilege of being deeply involved with the community – I know this
initiative plays a key role in encouraging businesses like ours to invest
in the local economy. We’re grateful to Governor Abbott and the State of
Texas for their warm welcome and support and look forward to contributing
to the entrepreneurial spirit and economic growth that make Texas such a special place to do business."

DeJoria has a “rags-to-riches success story,” which exemplifies the
American Dream, JPMS says. “From living on the streets of Los Angeles and selling encyclopedias door to door to becoming the co-founder of our
global beauty brand, he has defied the odds to achieve success and share
his success with others.” The 2021 documentary, Good Fortune, tells his
    story.

Democratic state lawmakers praised the JPMS headquarters relocation and expansion.

“The expansion of this global company will bring jobs to the area as well
as contribute to the economic success of Dallas County and our state,”
U.S. Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, said. “I am grateful that our state has incentives like the Texas Enterprise Fund that we can utilize to attract business to cities, like Wilmer. This is yet another corporate
headquarters expanding to the DFW metroplex, and I am excited to see this
type of business activity in southern Dallas County. I look forward to
watching JPMS’s continued growth and its positive impact on the district.”

Wilmer, a small rural town with a population of several thousand, is
roughly a 15-minute drive south of Dallas. However, it’s five industrial
parks and a workforce of two million have made it a global distribution
hub for Fortune 500 companies. Major companies like Ace Hardware, Amazon, Medline, Procter and Gamble, Sprouts, Unilever and Whirlpool have
    distribution operations there.

Mayor Sheila Petta said JPMS joining the list of companies with major operations in Wilmer “brings not only new jobs and economic development
but also increased visibility to Wilmer as a destination for major
industry. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership creates
for our residents and look forward to the positive impact it will have on
our local economy and future growth.”

Makes sense if they can get the employees to move.

Tesla moved except its most expensive employees refused, and Texas did
not have any better. So part of Tesla moved back.
