This quote is great!!  LBJ was such a character!!  Not to mention a really great
    President!!!

He had a lot of colorful quotes. Find a paperback copy of David Halberstan's "The Best and the Brightest" to read many more.

I wouldn't say he was a "great" president in the sense of doing normatively great (good) things. He was great in the sense of doing a lot of *big* things, but many were bad, none worse than escalating the Vietnam war. Signing the civil
rights act and the voting rights act were great in both senses of the word: big and good. His welfare programs were not so good. As one of his key advisors, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, later said, the structure of those programs devastated the black nuclear family. That clearly is not great in the sense of good.

This quote is great!! LBJ was such a character!! Not to mention a really great
    President!!!

He had a lot of colorful quotes. Find a paperback copy of David Halberstan's >"The Best and the Brightest" to read many more.

I wouldn't say he was a "great" president in the sense of doing normatively >great (good) things. He was great in the sense of doing a lot of *big* things, >but many were bad, none worse than escalating the Vietnam war. Signing the civil
rights act and the voting rights act were great in both senses of the word: big
and good. His welfare programs were not so good. As one of his key advisors, >Daniel Patrick Moynihan, later said, the structure of those programs devastated
the black nuclear family. That clearly is not great in the sense of good.

He was so "good" he knew better that to even try to run
again. Unlike Biden the incompetent Bastard.

    us-budget-data-2025-07-11/

The stated goal of the tariffs is *not* to raise revenue for the
government, you idiot. The stated goal of the tariffs is to claw manufacturing back to the U.S., and they are *not* working for
    that...and they won't.

    However, inflation is trending upwards:

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/15/inflation-breakdown-june-2025.html

No non-economist understands inflation. If the price of eggs quadruples
and stays there, and no other prices rise, that's not inflation — that's
a one-time spike in price. Inflation is when prices *generally* are
rising, and keep rising over time. That's what inflation is. Trump's
ruinous tariffs are not going to cause a general and continuing increase
in the cost of everything. But they will mean that everyone is worse off
due to paying higher prices for less merchandise. Everyone's standard of living will decline.

Inflation has its opposite, deflation where prices are falling.
Restocking costs are less than money from sales so a stutter goes up the
supply chain and can result in a depression. TACO promised prices will
fall which he is implementing by starting a depression.

    Other than ""trump sucks"

Trump sucks, and it cannot be overstated.

    One trick pony.

    It's still funny!

It's also true. Trump's ruinous tariffs are ruining the economy and
    pushing inflation higher.

The numbers make that a lie.  We have a surplus this month
    and inflation numbers are down.

Two lies from the Nazi rapist liar. There is no budgetary "surplus"
    — the budget deficit *grew* — and prices are *up*.

There was a surplus. Don't be stupid.

You're correct.  Trump's tariffs are working:

    https://www.reuters.com/business/trumps-tariff-collections-expected-gr
    ow-june- us-budget-data-2025-07-11/

The stated goal of the tariffs is *not* to raise revenue for the
government, you idiot. The stated goal of the tariffs is to claw manufacturing back to the U.S., and they are *not* working for
    that...and they won't.

That's why you're a dwarf homo blowing guys in truck stops for rent
money. You're always abusive to women and talking bad about your own
    mother.

    However, inflation is trending upwards:

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/15/inflation-breakdown-june-2025.html

    No non-economist understands inflation.

That's an untrue statement. Anyone who watches their money has some rudimentary understanding of basic cause and effect inflationary
principles. We can't say the same of bums who flunked out of economics
    class.

    :-(

Don't take it personally.  He flunked economics and knows nothing of
taxation or politics.  Simply put, tariffs are used to generate
revenue for the government, and exert leverage in trade negotiations.

Which the poor, largely, pay for. Of course, Trump is peddling the,
"You need God to be happy" and "Atheists are bad" narratives. I just
wonder when that balloon is going to pop??

Actually the poor do pretty well if they take advantage of the offerings available to them. They can get lots of free food. They can get one or
two time payments to cover electric bills. They can get free cell
phones and service. They can get $600 a month in a certain state if
they sign a document stating they are incapable of managing their own
affairs. Lots of freebies out there.

Inflation accelerated in June as President Trump’s tariffs started to leave a
bigger imprint on the economy, keeping the Federal Reserve on track to hold interest rates steady when policymakers next meet this month.

The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7 percent from a year earlier, the swiftest pace
since February, data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed on Tuesday. That is slightly higher than expected and up from an annual pace of 2.4
    percent in May.

“Core” inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices and is seen
as a reliable gauge for underlying price pressures, also shifted higher. Those
prices were up 2.9 percent from the same time last year.

Over the course of the month, prices rose 0.3 percent, a notable pickup from a
0.1 percent increase in May. Core prices rose 0.2 percent.
