He had a lot of colorful quotes. Find a paperback copy of David Halberstan's >"The Best and the Brightest" to read many more.
I wouldn't say he was a "great" president in the sense of doing normatively >great (good) things. He was great in the sense of doing a lot of *big* things, >but many were bad, none worse than escalating the Vietnam war. Signing the civil
rights act and the voting rights act were great in both senses of the word: big

the black nuclear family. That clearly is not great in the sense of good.

You're correct. Trump's tariffs are working:

and inflation numbers are down.
Two lies from the Nazi rapist liar. There is no budgetary "surplus" —
the budget deficit *grew* — and prices are *up*.
You're correct. Trump's tariffs are working:
https://www.reuters.com/business/trumps-tariff-collections-expected-grow-june-
us-budget-data-2025-07-11/
The stated goal of the tariffs is *not* to raise revenue for the
government, you idiot. The stated goal of the tariffs is to claw manufacturing back to the U.S., and they are *not* working for
that...and they won't.
However, inflation is trending upwards:
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/15/inflation-breakdown-june-2025.html
No non-economist understands inflation. If the price of eggs quadruples
and stays there, and no other prices rise, that's not inflation — that's
a one-time spike in price. Inflation is when prices *generally* are
rising, and keep rising over time. That's what inflation is. Trump's
ruinous tariffs are not going to cause a general and continuing increase
in the cost of everything. But they will mean that everyone is worse off
due to paying higher prices for less merchandise. Everyone's standard of living will decline.

Don't take it personally. He flunked economics and knows nothing of
taxation or politics. Simply put, tariffs are used to generate
revenue for the government, and exert leverage in trade negotiations.
Which the poor, largely, pay for. Of course, Trump is peddling the,
"You need God to be happy" and "Atheists are bad" narratives. I just
wonder when that balloon is going to pop??
Actually the poor do pretty well if they take advantage of the offerings available to them. They can get lots of free food. They can get one or
two time payments to cover electric bills. They can get free cell
phones and service. They can get $600 a month in a certain state if
they sign a document stating they are incapable of managing their own affairs. Lots of freebies out there.

Inflation accelerated in June as President Trump’s tariffs started to leave a
bigger imprint on the economy, keeping the Federal Reserve on track to hold interest rates steady when policymakers next meet this month.
The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7 percent from a year earlier, the swiftest pace
since February, data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed on Tuesday. That is slightly higher than expected and up from an annual pace of 2.4
percent in May.
“Core” inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices and is seen
as a reliable gauge for underlying price pressures, also shifted higher. Those
prices were up 2.9 percent from the same time last year.
Over the course of the month, prices rose 0.3 percent, a notable pickup from a
0.1 percent increase in May. Core prices rose 0.2 percent.
