Maurene Comey, the daughter of disgraced former FBI Director James
Comey, was given the pink slip by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who
fired one of the top Manhattan prosecutors for the Department of
Justice on Wednesday.
Not only is her oleaginous father in the headlines lately—and is
under investigation by the DOJ for possibly manufacturing the fake
Russiagate hoax with former CIA Director John Brennan against
Donald Trump—but Maurene herself is in the news cycle, considering
she worked on the infamous criminal cases against Jeffrey Epstein
and Ghislaine Maxwell.
The Epstein files have given the Trump administration headaches as
many pundits and even allies are unhappy with the DOJ’s conclusion
that there was no “client list” and that Epstein died of suicide.
Trump has responded by saying folks should focus more on the
“incredible and unprecedented success” of his tenure and not on
some long-dead pervert.

Why Comey's daughter was fired is still unclear, but it’s hard to
imagine she was a trusted figure in the administration with that
last name:
The reason for Ms. Comey’s firing was not initially clear. Her
dismissal immediately raised questions, given her involvement in
cases that have roiled the White House in recent days, as well the
fact that her father is the former F.B.I. director James Comey, who
was fired by President Trump during his first term.
A spokesman for the Southern District of New York declined to
comment. The White House press office did not immediately respond
to a request for comment, including about whether it had asked the
Justice Department to fire Ms. Comey.
Ms. Comey also worked recently on another case that ended badly for
the DOJ, the trial of hip-hop mogul Diddy, who was let off by a
jury on the most serious sexually related charges against him.
It’s not the first drama to hit the SDNY in recent months:
The firing is the latest episode to rock the Manhattan U.S.
Attorney’s office, formally known as the Southern District of New
York. Earlier this year, the acting U.S. attorney and several other
prosecutors resigned in protest after the DOJ ordered the office to
abandon the corruption prosecution of New York City Mayor Eric
Adams.
On Wednesday evening, prosecutors in the office, still shaken by
that tumult, rallied around Comey, with dozens of them banding
together to escort her out of the office for the last time,
according to a person familiar with the matter.
