Karen Bass is the Mayor of Los Angeles. However, in addition to her
problems with doing her job well, she seems to have difficulty with
    basic concepts of government.

Here she was on July 13 claiming, "The federal government is attempting
to seize power and authority from state and local governments. This is un-American. And we will not stand for it." She's also pushing this
conspiracy theory that the federal government is somehow using her city
    for an "experiment."

ICE responded, reminding her that they have the right to enforce federal immigration law.

Then on Sunday, Bass was interviewed on "Face the Nation." Margaret
Brennan asked her why she objected to federal agents wearing masks,
given that they face threats and attacks.

    Bass' reply was clueless.

KAREN BASS: Well – well, first of all, let me just tell you that the
masked men are not from Los Angeles. And so, how their families could be retaliated against? And then what is that to say to local law
enforcement, the Los Angeles Police Department, none of whom are ever
masked, who always identify themselves, and even hand someone a business
card. So, that makes absolutely no sense at all.

And I don’t know, but I have a hard time believing that the woman
selling pineapples on the corner will going to attack an ICE agent.

How bizarre is that response? How does she know they're not from Los
Angeles? And yes, they can be retaliated against anywhere. And
unfortunately, because of the hysteria whipped up by the Democrats,
people on the left have descended on ICE arrests and have attacked
    agents or interfered.

Instead of telling the agents to take their masks off and put themselves
at risk, how about telling the leftists to stop threatening and
    attacking them?

But she wasn't done yet with the bizarre takes. She posted a clip of the
next part of the interview. Her text in the tweet was what had people's eyebrows going up and responding. She said, "They're going after people
selling fruit and working at car washes. It's unconstitutional and it
    must end."

MARGARET BRENNAN: Tom Homan has said, physical description cannot be the
sole factor for reasonable suspicion. But things like location,
occupation, physical appearance add up, particularly if a person runs
away or if there’s a tattoo or something. You don’t seem to believe that.

KAREN BASS: Location, sitting at a – well, location, sitting at a bus
stop, walking down the street, selling fruit, no, I do dispute that, absolutely. And, you know, again, the National Guard should have never
been deployed in the first place. We did not ask for them. This is the
federal seizure of power from a governor deploying the National Guard
when the National Guard were not even needed.

Um, no, it's not unconstitutional to go after "people selling fruit and
working at car washes." They don't get a special exemption from the law.
If you entered illegally, you can be detained by ICE. That didn't start
under President Donald Trump; that's the law. Why do Democrats act like
    they don't understand that?

I think she's trying to spin - wrongly - something Homan said into "you
can't profile," but she doesn't even make a competent point. He never
said they were looking only at location or any such thing. He said they
take into consideration of a case a variety of factors. So even that
point from her was bad, because that isn't what Homan was saying.

Bass also said, "It’s difficult to get your car washed in Los Angeles
now because most of the car washes, the employees won’t come to work out
of fear that a raid will take place." First, that sounds like she's
talking about illegal aliens as "servants" again - how hard things are
if we don't have them working for us. And second, she seems to be
arguing against her point about location.
