My FIL is running Kubuntu 18.04 and has been happily using thunderbird
for reading his gmail for years. It is set up to authenticate via OAuth2
to avoid the App Password shenanigans.
However, today he got an error with his connection saying "invalid credentials". He's reset his gmail password after some effort, but still
no joy.
It's all working for me in a parallel set up, so any ideas why it isn't working for him?

As I know with 0Auth2 'less secure apps' setting doesn't apply.

I would tend to assume he doesn't *actually* know his credentials or hasn't entered them correctly.
