Judging by the look of that dude, I'd dare venture to suggest that
    this is a retarded idea.

If only there were a way to speak via wireless headset...

Right, Bluetooth is, of course, the answer to this, rather than
holding the tablet to the head, as this silly image depicts.
Certainly, a tablet, that can connect to a Bluetooth device, would
function as a type of phone, if one put one's mind to using it as
    such.

Easy to do with an iPad.

Oh, hey, I'm fine with these people finding some great achievement, in
using tech to the Nth degree, I certainly have my ways of utilizing
it, in my middle age, I have a Galaxy S21 phone, and my killer, self-

If they have a cell connected tablet and no phone, seems that is their best choice... though it might make it a bit hard in some situations. Seems headphones, wired or not, would make sense and be fairly cheap.

The photo is possibly a setup.

In the tablets I know, the speakers are not in that position. Nor the >>>>> mike. And the people I have actually seen using a phone as a tablet, >>>>> used it in hands free mode, not to the ear. Or with headphones.

You might want a private conversation and not have headphones with you. >>>
Then you are in bad luck, as the tablet doesn't have a speaker suited to >>> place near your ear,

    My picture says otherwise.

No, it doesn't. It is just someone posing as if he is using a tablet for phoning.

Demonstrating how it would be done. So where do you believe this speaker to be?

and probably doesn't have the hardware to detect
the proximity of your face, in order to switch to that mode as phones
    do.

Never seen the point of that.

Quite probably your ear could press buttons on it.

Only if you are in the habit of mashing your face against a phone.

He is touching the tablet with his hear. Everybody does.

I do not. Why would you? We did that with bakelite phones....

It is simply not designed for that.
