From John Hill@21:1/5 to All on Mon May 6 15:19:41 2024
When I first started using a Mac, almost forty years ago, black was black and white was white. Text was easy to read.

But now I'm finding it increasingly difficult to read plain, straightforward text. OK, my sight has deteriorated, and some of my problem is definitely down to that. But there seems to be a tendency - perhaps a fashion - to reduce contrast.

I went to accessibility/display/contrast but couldn't use it - I could barely see the slider bar, let alone the position of the slider. And changing the setting away from normal only seemed to make matters worse. As it moved
towards maximum the slider bar disappeared completely!

Unfortunately it's not only the iMac screen. I have just renewed my car insurance (yes, I can still drive) and when I printed the certificate of insurance it was almost unreadable - grey on white.

And ever since I got this iMac with its Magic Keyboard, I have been vexed by the fact that the keys are labelled in grey, not black. I have to illuminate the keyboard to see what I am doing.

Is all this just me, or do others of you have a similar problem?

And can any of you suggest how to improve it? The keyboard, I admit, is beyond help.

    Old John.
