Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

    Dunno if this might help?

Just to add I get this message often under a variety of circumstances,
e.g. Upgrading macOS, creating macOS VMs, rebuilding a Mac from scratch.
No harm appears to have ever been done!

One would expect to see such a message when creating a macOS VM or
rebuidling from scratch. Bit I was surprised to see it when just having performed an update - this seems to be a new-ish phenominum.

It makes for making new machines and devices, but upgrades especially
from five days ago. When did this start happening? Just the last updates?

Likely just a hiccup. I've noticed this message after signing into a
Mac I haven't used in a while, for instance. This shouldn't concern
you if you have a secure password for your Apple ID and are using
    two-factor authentication.

Ah, thanks. Apple needs to make that messages clearer if that is the
case. Yes, complex passwords and 2FA.

It's right there in the message: "If you recently signed in to this
device, you can ignore this notification".

But I never signed in recently. It's always logged in online.

    Thanks. Yeah, exactly this issue.
