• M4 MacBook Pro

From Alan B@21:1/5 to All on Thu Aug 15 19:33:27 2024
There's a possibility of a new M4 MBP in Q4 this year rather than 2025
as reviously rumoured. Now if an M4 Air were also launched at the same
time, I would be interested as the MBP might be beyond my pay scale!

The very end of that article does say that the M4 Air won't be out
    before next year...

Yes I did see that but was just living in hope. I nearly bought an M3 Air
but with rumours of an M4 version starting to circulate decided to hang on.

I doubt the M4 will make any difference to your day to day
activities. Is the M4 worth not having an M3 for 6-7 months?

A fair point :) The trouble is, with technology advancing so quickly, as
soon as you buy a product it's obsolete within a short space of time.
So, in an attempt to keep up with the latest techonology, you end up
delaying and delaying and end up not actually purchasing anything!

Thereby proving that you didn't need the thing in the first place!

I'm sure it will as will my M1 MBP. However it's my intention to hand
over the MBP to Mrs B. as her current Windows laptop is well past its
best. I was going to let her have my Intel MBA but I rather like messing
around with that! So I'm still weighing up my purchasing options.

And I'm still using my MBP Intel T2 macOS 14.6 bought in April 2019
almost daily and I'm still happy. On the former 13" MBP bought in 2017
an Ubuntu 24.04 is still running very fast.

I think 'obsolete' is a bit strong, surely?

Yes it is but I get the feeling that's what the marketing people would
    like you to think ;)

Yup. Especially with the M-series; even the four year old M1 is still a
    very capable processor.

And don't call me Shirley ;)
