• Smartcam App

From RJH@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 21 06:33:39 2024
I've got some Neos smartcams that'll no longer be supported in a couple of weeks. There is an opensource workaround (Thingino), but no app for an iPhone that I can see.

Anyone any expereince of this situation, or an app to recommend?

It sounds like you’re dealing with a situation where the manufacturer
will stop supporting the Neos smartcams, and you’re looking into an open-source alternative like Thingino to keep using them. However,
finding an iPhone-compatible app for Thingino seems to be the challenge.

I don’t have direct experience with Thingino itself, but here are a few general recommendations that might help:

Homebridge: Homebridge is an open-source solution that allows you to
integrate non-HomeKit devices (like your Neos smartcams) into Apple's
HomeKit ecosystem. There’s a lot of community support, and you can
manage everything using Apple's Home app on your iPhone. It's worth
checking if your cameras can be integrated through Homebridge plugins. RTSP-compatible apps: Since Thingino is open-source and possibly
supports RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol), you could use an app like
VLC for Mobile or IP Camera Viewer on your iPhone. These apps allow you
to view live streams from cameras that support RTSP, which might be the
    case with Thingino.

Home Assistant: Another powerful open-source platform is Home Assistant.
If Thingino supports standard protocols like RTSP or MQTT, Home
Assistant can integrate your smartcams and control them via a web
interface or an app on your iPhone.

Have you checked if Thingino has any specific documentation or support
for iOS apps? Sometimes, solutions might be community-developed, even if
not officially published on the App Store.
