• Intrusive password nag

From John Hill@21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 23 09:25:08 2024
My M4 iMac has taken to popping up a little box every time I go near a
password field. It says "Enable Password autofill. Click here to enable iCloud Passwords to autofill your passwords".

I do NOT want iCloud Passwords to autofill my passwords! I have a perfectly good password manager, thank you, and have no intention of using the Apple Passwords arrangements. What is more, the d**n thing is interfering with the operation of my password manager.

I have searched through System Settings and made sure that everything I can find to do with passwords is turned off. But still the popup pops up!

Can anyone tell me how to shut this extremely irritating nag off once and for all?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

    Old John.

I think I may have solved it.

Something - not me knowingly, and not with my permission or acquiescence - had installed an iCloud Passwrds extension in my default browser

I have now removed it and the problem seems to have gone. Time will show! but if it has, a wonderful Christmas present.

    Old John.

Oh well done. Personally I ignore all nags and suggestions to set up iCloud.

Is this only happening with Chrome based browsers? Anyway it’s Christmas
    so what the heck :)
