• Why does Usenapp hang so often?

    From D.M. Procida@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jan 30 09:57:39 2025
Regularly, I will have to sit and watch Usenapp spin a beachball for several seconds; I can't see why. I sometimes find it quite laggy, when typing for example.

Is that other people's experience too?

Not seeing that here. Suggest you contact the developer André on the Usenapp Support forum.

No problems here. It's blindingly fast even on my 11 year old Mini with a crappy Intel i5 and 8GB ram.

Not seen that. I occasionally come back to it to find it spinning its
cogs attempting to download a new batch but not actually doing anything,
    which needs a restart.

Since it also uses several % of CPU while it should be idle, I just
close it between uses now. That avoids the issue and slurps less
    battery.

Although.... just checking now, that bug seems to have been fixed, it's
down in the 0.1% range today. Yay Andre!

Not seen that. I occasionally come back to it to find it spinning its
cogs attempting to download a new batch but not actually doing anything, which needs a restart.

Sometimes it seems to get stuck trying to download items, but it doesn't time out and there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to abort that process.

    Maybe delayed negotiation at/with individual.net?

Yup, about once every few weeks over here.

Quit and restart solves it every time for me.
