For finding a file by content then in the Finder, try File -> New Smart Folder

You are missing the reality and the facts: Spotlight finds everything

I find this invaluable, especially as I can manage options for a search. Spotlight, cannot AFAIK be asked to find files on iCloud that are of type jpg and were created in the last ten minutes.

    David, can EasyFind do this?

Yes I added iCloud Drive and OneDrive to the list of places to search and it works fine :)
I rarely use Spotlight these days.

Did you try to add search criteria? Type jpg into the search box in Finder (having navigated to the iCould folder you'd like to search), select jpeg image. Then add (the -/+ icons) criteria such as date, contents etc. I can't see minutes in there - the best is the last day. Which may or may not be good enough.

    David, can EasyFind do this?

    Probably best not go there.

    -a- file? What kind?
Some files (like .epubs for example) may become 'invisible'
if you have Spotlight helper files installed,

    Hello Old John 🙂

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to you - I had to take Charlie (my
newish rescue cat!) to the vet this morning, to have his second vaccination.

No, EasyFind does not search directly within iCloud Drive — it focuses
on searching local files and folders on your Mac. However, if your
iCloud Drive files are set to "Keep on this Mac" (meaning they're
downloaded and stored locally), EasyFind can locate those files. If the
files are only in the cloud (with the little cloud icon next to them in Finder), EasyFind will NOT see them.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Spotlight did the job with no problems. I just
don't know how I forgot that facility in Mac O.S. 87 years of age must have something to do with it.
    Thank you again.

Just good old Cmd-F will work as well, and better.

You can also call it in the Finder File Menu.

It can also search on more criteria at once,
