• Hold for Authentication

    From Martin S Taylor@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 5 15:45:08 2025
    Hi:

Valentina’s iMac is on the same local network as my MacBook Pro. My printer, directly connected to the MacBook, is set up for printer sharing. Her iMac can see it, and check on things like the ink supply levels.

But when she tries to print, she gets the message that it’s “Holding for Authorisation”. I’ve checked all the advice I can find on line (mostly ‘remove the password from the keychain’) but can’t get it to work. Any suggestions from gurus
    here?

Can you move the printer to the LAN?

On the printer itself, is there a setting for Internet Printing Protocol
(IPP)? If so make sure it is set to "no security".

    Good thought, but no.

Aha! By connecting via WiFi, the answer appears to be yes.

    Many thanks.
