Just a quick technical note for anyone interested (whether or not
they're inclined to reply to me 😉):
If you boot into Recovery Mode on a Mac and use Disk Utility to erase
your internal drive or SSD, there's generally no point in running First
Aid on that same drive afterward.
Erasing the disk completely resets the file system, wiping out directory structures and replacing them with a fresh, clean format. Since First
Aid is mainly checking for file system issues (think directory
corruption, logical errors, etc.), there's essentially nothing left for
it to repair post-erase — it's already been reset.
The only time you'd bother running First Aid afterward is if the erase
didn't complete cleanly, gave you errors, or you suspect there's a
deeper hardware issue lurking.
