So, I have my Macbook using TimeMachine to a Synology DS418.
At Christmas as I was away I shut down the Mac (M1 MacBook Pro) - and everything else - until my return on the 28th.
I noticed only on Wednesday that it said no backups since December 19th... This was an outright lie s when I entered TimeMachine I could see that there was one dated the 8th of January - no others since the 19th though.
Since then it sticks on preparing backup and gets no further...
Any thoughts?
My initial thought was that the NAS has a different address - which was true and which I rectified but it's weird that it did a single backup on the 8th...
Anyway, it's been preparing since yesterday evening, seems to try for about 20
minutes or so then stop and schedule a backup for about an hours time...
It also says, "waiting to complete first backup"
Thanks,
David Kennedy

So, here we go again...
I noticed on Sunday after checking my mail etc. that the last backup was
10 days ago...
But, as I'm just coming round after a bout of covid I really couldn't be arsed to investigate until today.
It seems to be Time Machine just falling over. Tried reselecting the
disc, restarting the NAS and restarting the Mac.
It will run fine if I do a fresh backup and it then carries on perfectly happily to the same disc it refused...
Luckily I haven't done anything that might have got lost but it is
getting a little boring now.

I’ve setup TM to allow my MacBook backups when just on battery power. This seems to work most of the time but sometimes does not. When I’ve checked the % charge it is often rather low. Just a random thought!
