So, Tuesday morning having some free time I backed up - M! Macbook Pro
16" - and updated to Ventura.
Upon restarting the first thing I noticed was that SeaMonkey was in and endless restart/crash cycle - apparently it does not play nice with
Ventura at all.
The second was that I no longer had internet access although I was
connected to the right wi-fi network.
I tried a second network with the same result and then tried an Ethernet connection. Still nothing...
So Tuesday afternoon was spent in the Apple Store in Cardiff where we established that although I could connect to wi-fi I had no internet access.
After doing all the hardware and diagnostics it was established that
internet was available via Ethernet in recovery mode.
All the usual suspects were removed - Little Snitch etc. - without any noticeable difference and at the end of the session - around 90 minutes
- I set off to do a TimeMachine restore from that mornings back-up.
Anyway, when I got back and started up everything worked...
Perhaps it just needed a day out?

Shall I tell him to review your past behaviour?
That might be insightful.

I’ve occasionally seen something like this on my M1 MBP running Monterey and early Ventura betas. I found that by turning off WiFi in System Preferences/Settings for a few seconds and then turning it back on seemed
to sort it out. I haven’t had this issue for a while now though so haven’t
pursued it further.
