In the process of updating to it now. Yes I had noticed the battery on my iPhone 11 was draining more rapidly than say a year ago but I put it down
to ageing. So we’ll see what happens now.

Have you been experiencing any battery drain issue?

I've not noticed battery issues, but I have noticed my XR stuttering a lot more than usual since 16.1x In particular when swapping to a different app and wanting to type quickly. There's often a lag in response.

My iPhone 11 has updated, but my iPad Gen 7 has not. Presumably it has come to
the end of the line at 16.1.1.1.
Ah, well. All hope of getting rid of multitasking is gone (not that there was much anyway).

updates are staggered so that the more than 1 billion active users
don't overload apple's servers all at the same time. you can manually
request an update if you prefer to not wait.

why would you want that?

You are responding as if iOS and iPadOS are the same thing.

Ha! You've been listening to Internet liars again!
CleanMyMac, a sponsor of Patrick Wardle, takes care of all that
nowadays! It is listed quite clearly, here:- https://objective-see.org

It's not on offer; according to iPadOS Settings/Update my iPad is up to
date.

You can always get ahead of the game and install the 16.2 beta ;-) Personally I think I’ll wait!

Clearly there is no iPadOS 16.1.2 release. Yet.

maybe they're skipping it for 16.2. no big deal. 16.1.1 is *not* the
end of the line.

updates page which just has the place holder "(details available soon)"
will no doubt subsequently include the phrase "Apple is aware of a

Yes that’s a very likely scenario. BTW no impact on my iPhone’s battery drain so a replacement seems pending :(

Lo and behold:
iOS 16.1.2 addresses the following issues.
Information about the security content is also available at https://support.apple.com/HT213516.
WebKit
Available for: iPhone 8 and later
Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary
code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS released before iOS 15.1. Description: A type confusion issue was addressed with improved state handling.
WebKit Bugzilla: 248266
CVE-2022-42856: Clément Lecigne of Google's Threat Analysis Group
And it's so bad that Apple have backported it to iOS 15.7.2 and iPadOS
15.7.2
