• OT: W-11 activation

    From Tim Streater@21:1/5 to All on Mon Feb 3 21:45:43 2025
    I just made myself a new W-11 VM (VirtualBox) and got it to the point where it was all updated and almost ready for use doing software testing. But during that process I did click the link that skipped entering a product code (as I haven't got one).

    Will my W-10 code do? Otherwise, what are my options to have activation?

    Mind you, I'll need to re-install it all, though, as having got all the way through, the instructions I had found for installing suggested I crank up the video memory and turn on 3D acceleration. Of course I did this with the VM powered off. But since then it's refused to boot (BSOD) and the repair options don't work. The ISO is 24H2.

    If your experiment needs statistics, you ought to have done a better experiment.

    @John Rumm:

    I still have your note to activate W10 by "cheating" via the massgrave.dev website. Does that same sequence also do for W11 ?

    Win 11 should activate with a Win 10 key - if not tied to too many/too
    recent existing hardware installs. If it is, then it will activate on
    the existing hardware with a digital license automatically. If it is not
    on the same hardware and is a retail key and is linked to a MS account,
    then you can login to that and activate via that.

    Yup.
