I have just ordered a replacement saw blade for my sliding mitre saw.
    It's 216mm.

The now worn out blade has 40 teeth, and the new one has 60, but I
noticed blades with 80 and even 100 teeth. Is there a happy compromise,
or is it a case of the more teeth the better? I tend to favour a good
    result over speed of cut.

The more teeth the better the cut, I have a 100T blade for my table saw and
it cuts beautiful through melamine faced board without any chipping even on
the underside despite not having a zero clearance plate for the saw.
