I just recovered mine from my loft where it has languished since a move
here 4 years ago. It was packed with loving care about five years ago.

When it was opened up the SME arm was a mess. The grub screw from the >counterweight that slid along a short bar to fix the tracking weight,
1.25gms if I remember correctly, was missing.

The pulley that pulled the arm over had come adrift but was otherwise
    fine.

The stylus had brocken off and some the tiny wires connecting to the >cartridge had snapped off. I have managed to strip the ends but have
yet to "tin" them before attemptng to resolder. Sadly my hands are not
as steady a they once were so I am taking my time before starting.

It is the grub screw that is the biggest problem.

Where can I get a replacement if I don't know the size?

Going back to 1970s Hifi systems. Garrard was a wholly-owned subsidiary

Yes, I had this sort of kit. SME arm, Shure V15 cartridge, Thorens direct
drive deck, Quad amp, IMF Professional monitors. My hearing was sharper than most, so I could hear the difference. Most of my mates had poorer hearing and claimed their cheapo systems sounded just like mine.

Clearly for them, spending any more would not have been justifiable.

But I sold it all off five or six years ago, for £450 to a dealer.

Any way now my hearing has gone to pot, to I tend not to listen to all those CDs anyway.

Roughly how big is the hole in diameter?

It's possible to get kits of tiny screws as used for glasses repair, eg: https://www.amazon.co.uk/woshilaoDS-Machine-Sunglasses-Computer-Electronic/dp/B0CZNT5YXV
(many others of different sizes available)

They might give you some examples you can try to see if they fit the thread. Then you know what size to look for (or, maybe one of these will suffice if
it doesn't need to be a grub screw).

If it's possible it's a non-metric thread then you might have to look for equivalent screws. If a tiny screw, what thread would it likely be - BA,
    UNF?

I have an SME 3009 arm. Examining the weight, there are no threads in
the hole which looks as if it might hold a grub screw. However, there
is another blind hold beneath it. In this is a short spring and follower.

When it was opened up the SME arm was a mess. The grub screw from

The pulley that pulled the arm over had come adrift but was

Going back to 1970s Hifi systems. Garrard was a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the company I worked for. Anyone in the company (who
wasn't in to high-end HiFi) owned a Garrard.

I still have, and occasionally use, my SP25 MK1!

AP76 here. There must have been some reason why I bought that model,
but it's lost in the mists of time.

I had an SP25 for decades. Replaced with a Thorens which I still have.

I had a job in an electronics warehouse that sold hi-fi, with one branch
    in Tottenham Court Road.

    Anyone remember Technical Trading?

Yes going back a bit there we are!..

Yes, but if you stood on TCR facing north, it was on the left. I should

Probably. I rarely went back to Brighton after 1978, except for a funeral. Recently I've been visiting more, despite the ruinous car parking charges.

Memories. I picked one to look at, January 1970, and I know for a fact
I bought that one, as Henry refers to 'earmuffs for underprivileged
