• Looking for 1/4" impact driver bit recommendations

From Chris Green@21:1/5 to All on Wed Apr 23 15:51:49 2025
I'm looking for some 1/4" hex bits which are genuinely suitable for
use with an impact driver. I have a 1/4" driver capable of up to over
200 Nm and it snaps ordinary bits too easily.

I'm particularly needing bits for slotted screws at present so a set
with a good number of slotted screw bits, preferably with more than
one of each size would be good. I don't need torx or square bits at
all, though some pozi and philips bits would be handy.

    Any recommendations?

Most recent 1/4" set I bought were Bosch, 100mm impact rated with the
"torsion" shape, mixture of Pozi, Philips and Torx, no slotted. I've not
given them much welly on anything ... not sure I'd expect slotted bits
to fare too well with impact wrenches?

I have these which are good, but they don't come in slotted: https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-flextorq-impact-screwdriver-keyring/p52541

They do have a shorter version via a bit holder which does have slotted: https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-impact-torsion-screwdriver-bit-set/p54169

As Andy says, I imagine an impact wrench is going to skip and mangle slotted heads.

Yes, I agree about slipping and mangling. I'm not aiming to do this
often but I have some stuck grub screws that might just respond to the treatment.

Screwfix do some Erbauer impact bits that are pretty good. An assortment
for a tenner, or you can buy just the straight ones.
