I do have a local branch of TLC, but they're 9am-1pm Saturdays, closed Sundays and Bank Holidays. Most other distributors (CEF) are the same. We did have a branch of QVS but the company seems to have expired.

Of course there is Mr Amazon, but there is not much in the way of short pre-cut lengths available on Prime next day. I could certainly get it from an ebay seller but it'll take the best part of a week.

Any other suggestions, apart from a local hardware store (the one we
    have is closed Sundays/BHs)?

    Try your local traveller camp...

    Thanks

B&Q have various cable sizes in various lengths, 5m, 10m, probably
2.5m and others. I bought some recently.

Do you use facebook ? A request on a local community group may find
someone doing a project who could spare some or have a length lying in the shed, otherwise a drive around looking for skips which may have some in or indicate some work being done.

Seen them do that with Twin and Earth, never seen any SWA packaged like
    that in B&Q.

Missed reference to SWA. Don't supposed that there's much call for it
    in DiY
